A huge fire has broken out at an iconic Paris landmark.

A massive blaze is currently raging to Notre Dame Cathedral in the French capital.

There is no word as yet on the cause of the fire, but there is speculation that it could be connected to renovation work.

Videos and photos on social media show plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the air above cathedral.
