An international exhibition exploring a human rights issue is on show in Sheffield.

The Art of Zhen, Shan , Ren features realistic oil paintings and Chinese watercolours and is on show at Bank Street Arts in the city centre until Wednesday.

Part of the exhibition shows how the meditative exercise Falun Gong has ‘changed people’s lives’.

The practice has been banned in China since 1999 and practitioners tortured.

Part of the exhibition also deals with the ordeals people have gone through.

Eddie Aitken, promoter of the exhibition in the UK, said: “These paintings express the inner life of a Falun Gong practitioner and the shocking human rights tragedy currently unfolding.”

The exhibition is free and two pictures are also up in the town hall foyer.
