The couple, from Killamarsh, were excited to meet Lillie Grace after conceiving on the second attempt of IVF treatment.

Lisa, who has three children from a previous marriage, said it was the easiest pregnancy she had experienced. She was due to have a caesarean section but things went wrong shortly after she had steroid injections. She started to feel unwell and Lillie Grace died before she was born.

Lisa, 42, said: “I had a fantastic pregnancy, I just felt so well. I was booked in for a C-section for Monday, October 12 and went in for steroid injections the week before. After that I was not well and on Friday went to the hospital but Lillie Grace passed away.”

The couple were told that Lillie’s death was cot death in the womb. At her funeral, £600 was raised for the charity Sands.

Now the couple want to help other people who have experienced losing a baby, by raising funds for Sands. Their latest event raised £1,500.

Lisa said: “The support has been outstanding and a little overwhelming. We hope to raise £3,000 by October which will be the anniversary of Lillie’s death.”

They also hope to set up a branch of the charity in Sheffield, which they would run.

Lisa said: “The only thing out there to help people is Sands, they are the only real lifeline and have helped us a lot. The £600 raised at her funeral will pay for bereavement training.

“We are in the process of looking at opening one in Sheffield. My husband wants to do it as well. People always think men are alright and don’t see how hard it is for them too.”
