Durham Webster, from Sheffield, died last December.

An inquest into his death, held at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday (May 19), found that the 28-year-old had spent the previous night drinking with friends, and took a number of drugs.

The court was told Durham did not have a history of addiction.

Tragically, the following day he was found dead in bed.

At Sheffield Wednesday’s match against Hull City, on Boxing Day, fans applauded for a minute when the game reached its 13th minute, in celebration of Durham whose favourite number was 13.

Assistant coroner Rebecca Connell said: “Durham Alexander Webster died on December 6, 2025 [...] as a result of mixed drug toxicity, having consumed a fatal amount of ketamine, pregabalin and cocaine.”
