Inquest opened into death of Sheffield murder victim

An inquest has been opened into the death of a man shot in broad daylight on a Sheffield street.

IAseel Al-Essaie, aged 23, died after he was gunned down in Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe, on Saturday, February 18.

He was rushed to hospital but died despite the efforts of medics to revive him.

Aseel was shot in his chest soon after he pulled up outside a house for a family gathering to celebrate his twin sister's engagement.

An inquest into his death was opened at the Medico Legal Centre in Sheffield and has been adjourned pending further enquiries.

A police probe into the shooting is underway, with detectives having made eight arrests so far.

Suspects have been quizzed on suspicion of murder, conspiracy to murder and assisting offenders.

They have all been bailed.
