A lecture on some of the most shocking murders in Sheffield during the 19th century is to take place later this month.

Author Chris Hobbs will address a meeting of the Wadsley and Loxley Commoners on the subject of ‘Gruesome Murders, Sheffield’s Shocking Past’.

The event will take place on Monday, October 27, at Wadsley Church Hall, Worrall Road, from 7.30pm.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Other forthcoming talks organised by the group include a November 24 lecture on comedians who appeared at the Sheffield Empire and a practical demonstration and talk on beer brewing on February 6.
