Is this image snapped by Sheffield photographer the greatest picture in the world?

It was taken by eagle-eyed lensman Harry Botley while on a trip to the scenic Dinorwic Quarry in North Wales.

When Harry noticed the unique colour blends on the image, he decided to send the picture in to the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards - described as the world's largest photography competition.

Judges received more than 227, 000 image nominations from photographers in 183 countries - and they were delighted with Harry's submission which made the awards shortlist.

His picture - called Verdigris 2 after the blueish-green colour that forms on copper - is now rated as one of the best in the world and he has been nominated in the enhanced category of the open competition section.

Harry tweeted that he was "so happy to have been shortlisted as one of the top 10 in the enhanced category for the Sony World Photography Awards."

He is one of 18 British photographers recognised in various categories for their work.

The winners will receive Sony digital imaging equipment and a cash prize of around Â£25, 000. They will be announced on March 28 and all nominees will have their work displayed at Somerset House in London from April 21 to May 7.
