'I'm just desperate to get Sheffield United out of this division,' says Chris Basham

The positivity surrounding Bramall Lane at present is palpable with hopes high that their prolonged spell in their third tier could be coming to an end.

Hide AdAnd in a Q&A published today, Basham outlined his mission to gain promotion with United where he believes Chris Wilder's side could 'hold their own'.
"I’m not a big one for regrets but if I don’t manage to get Sheffield United into the Championship, that would be a big regret," he said. "I signed for them in League One. I came here to help get them out of this division and we’re still in it. I’m hoping we can accomplish it this year or next.
"This is my third season here. We got to the play-offs once and got beaten by Swindon. That was the one that finished 5-5 in the second leg. I still believe that if we had beaten them, we would have given Preston more of a fight in the final because Swindon got blown over (4-0).
"I’m just desperate to get this club out of the division. The fans are outstanding. There are 20,000 every week in League One. That can only get better if the club went up to the Championship. I think we would hold our own but you never know until you’re up there."
