I am one of the salt of the earth

Have your say

yorkshire Day!

yorkshire Day!

During a long life I have gone here and there in the world, claiming to be one of the salt of the earth, coming from God’s own county.

Imagine my horror when, taking up genealogy I discovered that two of my great grandparents were born in Lincolnshire...

But they did have the good sense to move to Yorkshire when aged 18 and 20 and married here.

This means, from grandparents down, I am one hundred per cent Yorkshire.

Does this qualify me to celebrate on August 1?

Well done for roundabouts

On behalf of the North East Community Assembly I would just like to thank and congratulate the Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team for their brilliant work on the traffic islands across our North East Area.

The Firth Park roundabout looks magnificent. Together with the Firth Park gardeners they have produced probably the best looking traffic island in the city and lifted the whole neighbourhood.

They also transformed traffic islands at the top and bottom of Moonshine lane and on Wordsworth Ave. This team of four trainees and one supervisor are proving to be one of the best investments the North East Community Assembly have made out of its discretionary budget.

Well done everybody.

Coun Peter Price, Chair North East Community Assembly
