The versatile player limped off midway through the second half of Friday’s controversial goalless draw at Hull City after suffering a recurrence of his knee injury.

Hutchinson had missed the three previous Championship fixtures because of the problem.

The 26-year-old, deployed in central midfield against Hull, received treatment over the weekend but may not be risked when Wednesday entertain the Millers.

Should Hutchinson be ruled out, head coach Carlos Carvalhal is likely to recall winger Ross Wallace and move Barry Bannan into the middle of the park. Alex Lopez and Lewis McGugan could also enter his thoughts as the Owls look to halt their three-match winless run.

Wednesday will have to rejig their forward line, with top-scorer Fernando Forestieri facing a two-match suspension following his harsh dismissal at the KC Stadium. It was the Argentine striker’s second red card in as many matches, ruling him out of clashes against Rotherham and Brighton and Hove Albion. Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao will be vying for that striking berth.

Carvalhal, meanwhile, says youngster George Hirst’s future at the club lies in the hands of chairman Dejphon Chansiri. The England Under-17 international, the son of Owls legend David, is reportedly on Chelsea, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Leeds United’s radar.

George, a striker, is highly-rated by Wednesday’s academy staff and has established himself as a valuable member of their development squad.

And The Star understands the club have held discussions with the 17-year-old’s representatives over tying him down to a pro contract.

Carvalhal said: “It’s in the hands of the chairman. I gave my opinion about the boy in September/October.

“George is a player that’s in the academy so I must be careful to talk about academy boys. You have to control expectations with a boy.”
