A WOMAN’s visit to Doncaster was ruined when a sneak thief took her purse as she looked forward to a meal in a town centre restaurant.

Police officers in Doncaster are appealing for help from the public to help trace the man pictured on the restaurant’s CCTV security system, who may be able to help find the stolen purse.

A 61-year-old woman from York went into McDonalds on St Sepulchre Gate, Doncaster, around 3.15pm on Monday, March 18, for a bite to eat.

After she bought some food from the counter, she went to a rear seat and put her purse down while she went to get some sauce from the serving area.

When she returned about a minute later, her purse had gone, police said.

It is believed to have been taken by another customer and officers are hoping the image above will be recognised by readers of The Star.

The man is described as white, around 20 to 25-years-old, about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build with close-cropped, dark hair.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who knows the man pictured should call South Yorkshire Police on: 101, quoting incident number 678 of 18 March, 2013.

Or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
