A NATIONWIDE hunt is on for the winners of £40 million worth of unclaimed Premium Bond prizes - and one old chap in South Yorkshire has been waiting quite long enough.
The oldest unclaimed prize dates back over 50 years, to November 1957 – and the winner was last known to be living in these parts.
In total 740,000 sums have never been claimed, the largest being £100,000 which was won by a London woman.
Another lucky lady has won £50,000 while four £25,000 prizes are also up for grabs.
National Savings and Investments operations manager Jill Waters said: “It is likely the winner of the £100,000 prize is unaware or has forgotten that she has Premium Bonds – the lucky winner has just £25 invested.”
