Hunt for city park robbers

POLICE are hunting two robbers who mugged a woman for her handbag as she walked through a Sheffield park

The men struck as the 39-year-old woman walked through Ponderosa Park, near Upperthorpe Road, in Upperthorpe.

Police say she was approached by the men and one grabbed her handbag. After a short struggle, which left the woman with minor injuries to her arm and hand, the men fled with her bag, one of them on a bicycle.

Since the robbery between 7am and 7.30am on Thursday, June 9, the police have increased high visibility patrols in the area.

Both robbers were aged 18 to 21. The man who grabbed the bag was of Asian appearance, 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in tall, with stubble and short black hair gelled into spikes and wearing a pale blue stonewashed denim jacket and jeans. The man on the bicycle was of Somali appearance, tall and slim with short black afro hair. He was wearing a white top.
