The Eagles were denied a try early doors as Dane Chisholm’s pass was deemed forward, and Rovers took advantage of their reprieve with the first try of the afternoon.

Thomas Minns scythed his way through three tackles to score and Jamie Ellis added the extras.

Shaun Lunt was next to cross the whitewash for the hosts when his own kick deflected into his path, and Ellis added the two.

It was starting to look ominous for the Eagles, but Chisholm intercepted a pass deep inside his own half, before running 60 metres for a brilliant individual try. Brown converted.

On the half hour mark Adam Quinlan further extended the lead with a converted try, but the Eagles responded with a spell of possession.

The returning Jordan Cox was hit with a high tackle which resulted in Ben Cockayne seeing yellow, before Rovers received a team warning after conceding five consecutive penalties.

The Eagles took advantage on the half-time hooter when Chisholm’s kick was grounded by Garry Lo, but Brown missed the extras.

Lunt bagged his second try just after the break to reaffirm Rovers’ grip on the game, with Ellis converting.

Now back up to a full compliment, Rovers were over again when Jordan Abdull’s kick wasn’t dealt with by Millar, allowing Maurice Blair to score, and Ellis converted for a 20 point lead.

The game was all but wrapped up when Abdull’s storming break was finished by Cockayne and Ellis converted.

Ellis was next over the whitewash, converting his own score, leaving the visitors staring at another big defeat.

Inside the last 10 minutes James Greenwood added another converted try, as the Eagles went out.
