Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells calls for '˜clinical' Terriers in second leg clash with Sheffield Wednesday

Nahki Wells has conceded Huddersfield Town have to be more ruthless in front of goal if they are to reach the Championship Play-Off Final.

The Terriers were left cursing missed opportunities following their goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday in the first leg of the end-of-season lottery yesterday.

Izzy Brown, on loan from Chelsea, hit the crossbar in a one-sided first half and Wells was denied twice by Keiren Westwood after the interval.

The second leg of the semi-final takes place on Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Wells said: “We have to go there and maybe be a little bit more clinical and create maybe a couple more clear-cut chances. If we can get a goal or two, that just may be enough. Maybe even one.”

Wednesday will fancy their chances of reaching Wembley for the second year running after chalking up a 17th clean sheet of the season.

“I am sure that they go back thinking they have a better advantage,” said Wells. “But we can take the dominance from today’s performance and try to do the same and give them nothing and maybe be a bit more clinical.

“They are a side who are really strong defensively and collectively. It comes down to one match, no away goals rule and the better man who wins on the day gets to Wembley.”

Terriers boss David Wagner remains optimistic they can win the tie.

He said: “It is game on. We have a big chance after this performance.

“I’m not worried about what they will do. If they play as deep as they did today I’m not sure how their fans will react.”
