Fans love him and unsurprisingly, he is held in the highest regard by his Owls team mates.

That was apparent after the skipper posted a message on his instagram account regarding his leaving Wednesday at the end of this season.

Loovens posted: "My time has come to move on. I enjoyed my 4,5 years stay at this great club and want to thank everyone of you that made it so special. I wish you guys all the best for the future and hope that you get what you deserve."

His team mates were quick to respond and 'it was a pleasure' was the general theme.

Fellow defender Daniel Pudil posted: "was a pleasure to be playing next to you skipper" and Barry Bannan added: "Pleasure to be in the same team as you mate great leader and most of all a great guy"

Lucas Joao posted: "SKIP what a pleasure, thank you for everything" and Jack Hunt wrote: "Captain ❤️ what a guy!!"

Fellow Dutchmen Joost van Aken and Joey Pelupessy have both spoken in the past about how much of a help Loovens had been to them when they made their move to South Yorkshire.

Van aken posted: "Skip was a pleasure to work with you, thanks for everything," with Pelupessy similarly adding, "Thanks for everything Skip!"

Fernando Forestieri, meanwhile, went all out: "Excellent player inside and outside the pitch Capi it was an honor sharing the dressing room with you. Good luck with your new adventure buena suerte amigo!!!"
