How is this justified?

I understand that eight mature trees on Rustlings Road were felled in the early hours despite the independent tree panel recommending that seven out of eight should be saved.

Save the trees campaign on Rustlings Road in Sheffield

This was carried out under cover of darkness with arrests for non-compliance from residents after 18 months of intense campaigning through the correct formal channels. This is despicable.

How can this be considered a reasonable course of action for a council, the police, or Amey?

I understand this is a 25 year contract.

I am not prepared to sit back and wait for all the mature trees to be felled for the convenience and financial benefit of Amey. How can this be justified?
