Housing scheme set for go-ahead in Sheffield

Proposals for 103 homes to be built on the Manor estate are expected to be given the green light at a Sheffield Council planning committee meeting on Tuesday.

A development of two, three and four-bedroomed houses would be built on land off Queen Mary Road and Fretson Road if the proposals are approved.

The 2.8 hectare plot has been vacant for 10 years. Developer Gleeson Homes will be required to contribute £50,000 for a public open space. The firm has pledged to offer ‘priority employment’ to those living within two miles of the site.

A planning report said: “The proposal is supported by development plan policy and will secure the regeneration of a long vacant site with relatively low cost, much-needed housing.”

Prices would start at £95,000.
