Housing plans to move ahead

PLANS to take management of Sheffield’s housing estates back under the council’s control are set to be rubber-stamped at a meeting during the coming week.

Members of Sheffield Council’s cabinet will formally make the decision on Wednesday after an overwhelming vote in favour of the move in a ballot of tenants, in which 88 per cent gave their approval.

The council will take over control of 42,000 council houses. Councillors and officials will now plan what management structure to implement and how tenants will be involved in the process.
