Housebuilder to invest almost £1m in Sheffield and Rotherham

The Yorkshire West division of housebuilder Barratt has revealed it will contribute more than £975,000 to support local projects and community improvements in and around Sheffield and Rotherham, ahead of the launch of two brand new housing developments in 2019.

The Glassworks, in Catcliffe, and Elderwood, in Bannerdale, will open in early in 2019 and will help to satisfy the demand for houses in these highly sought-after areas of South Yorkshire.

The contributions will help a range of facilities close to the residential sites, highlighting Barratt’s commitment to investing in the areas it builds.

Contributions will include donations of more than £190,000 to improve outdoor community and sports facilities, over £170,000 towards education and £500,000 which will go towards affordable housing offsite.

The Glassworks was named as a nod to Catcliffe’s iconic glass cone, the oldest surviving structure of its type in Western Europe. The development will offer a collection of 85 homes and will benefit from excellent transport links. Located just five minutes from the M1 motorway the new homes will be easily commutable from Sheffield and Rotherham, ideal for professionals and families alike.

Elderwood, which was given its name by the pupils of Carterknowle Junior School in Sheffield in a competition run by Barratt Homes earlier this year, in Bannerdale will be a beautiful collection 62 homes located close to Sheffield city centre.
