A GROUP of formerly homeless people were triumphant in a five-a-side Sheffield football tournament.
The group, residents of Emmaus Sheffield, won the trophy in the St Anne’s Bevin Court contest.
The team battled through six matches to win the trophy, beating the Bevin Court hostel in the final with a 3-1 victory.
Tam Comrie, playing for the Emmaus team, once represented Scotland in the Homeless World Cup.
Other team members included captain David Hall, Nathan Haynes, Matthew Mohammed and Naseem Hamed, a French volunteer.
Graham Bostock, deputy community leader for Emmaus Sheffield, said: “We have a great tradition of football here at Sheffield – we also won the Emmaus football trophy at the annual assembly at the beginning of August.”
