Horse rescued from pond in Sheffield

A horse was rescued from a pond by firefighters in Sheffield after it entered the water and was unable to get back out.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Storrs Lane, Oxspring, Sheffield, on Sunday afternoon.

They used a sling to pull the frightened animal out of the pond, which was around 4ft deep.

Sheffield firefighters also dealt with a wheelie bin fire on Cottam Road, High Green and a bin store which went up in flames on Verdon Street, Burngreave.

Crews also tackled a garden fire on Godstone Road, Wellgate, Rotherham and a skip found burning on Dodworth Road, Barnsley.
