Jackie, aged 55, of Whirlow, said: “Yorkshire Rose CC is a British Cycling-affiliated, Sheffield-based women only cycling club.

“We started the club as we believed we identified a gap in the local market, for a club whose aim was to help women women feel confident about going on a bike ride and have lots of fun along the way.

“The club is for ladies who may wish to push themselves that little bit further in their cycling, but feel that they do not yet have the confidence to join one of the more established clubs in the area. We’re all ages, all shapes and sized and the emphasis is very much on getting ladies out on their bikes, having fun, getting fit, mutual support and, most importantly, enjoying one or two cakes stops along the way!”

In the months since it began, the club has grown to 55 members who regularly meet up for rides, both road and mountain bike specific, of varying distances and difficulty, within Sheffield and surrounding areas, including the glorious Peak District.

Jackie added: “It is important to emphasise our members are normal ladies with full and busy lives, work and family commitments, not super-fit athletes. We’d love to hear from ladies who would like to get in on the fun and exciting times of this new club.”
