Honorary Sheffield degrees for prominent trio

The leader of England's largest National Park, a top family lawyer and one of the UK's most distinguished architects were in line for honorary degrees from Sheffield University this week.

Richard Leafe, chief executive of the Lake District National Park Authority, Mary Hayes, who wrote the the standard text on family and child law, and Bob Adams, senior partner of architectural practice Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson, were due to be presented with their degrees at graduation ceremonies along with thousands of students.

Mr Adams played a central role in setting up the university’s Faculty of Architectural Studies – now the Faculty of Social Sciences - and in particular the establishment of its Department of Urban Studies and Planning.
