Yorkshire Water has said that properties in the S8, S2 and S11 postcode areas have been hit after the leak on the A61 Queens Road earlier tonight.

Workers are now at the scene carrying out repairs to the pipe and road near the junction with Charlotte Street and the burst has also caused disruption for motorists and public transport users.

A Yorkshire Water spokesman said: “The team are now on site to isolate the burst and arrange the repair.

“Thank you for your patience and further updates very shortly.”

Last month, a main fractured near St Mary’s Roundabout while last summer a burst caused days of disruption for motorists after a huge leak on the ring road.
