Homecoming soldiers’ parade

Have your say

HUNDREDS of people are set to gather to welcome South Yorkshire troops for a homecoming parade.

The Light Dragoons cavalry regiment, which has just returned from Afghanistan, will march through Barnsley on Tuesday.

Some 250 soldiers, supported by military vehicles, will be involved in the parade, which will pause for a minute’s silence to remember Sergeant Lee Davidson, aged 32, from Thorne, who was killed in a bomb explosion on the recent tour.

Members of the public are invited to show their support by lining town centre streets for the event.

The parade will form up on Churchfield and set off at about 12.15pm.
