HMV stores in Barnsley and Chesterfield are among 66 to be axed, the music chain’s administrators have announced.
But HMV stores in Sheffield, Meadowhall and Doncaster will continue to trade.
The branches affected by closure employ a total of 930 staff, and the shut-downs have been announced after job losses at HMV’s head office.
Administrators Deloitte says the closures will take place ‘over the next one to two months’.
Nick Edwards, HMV joint administrator, said: “We have now completed a review of the store portfolio and have identified 66 loss-making stores for closure.
“This step has been taken to enhance prospects of securing the business’ future.”
