SHEFFIELD’S historic Mosborough Hall hotel is embracing technology of the future.
The venue, parts of which date back to the 12th century, is the first hotel in Sheffield to install electric vehicle charging stations.
Owners of second generation electric cars will be able to fully charge their vehicles, using the hotel’s new points, in 40 minutes.
Currently, there are only about 10,000 charging points throughout the whole UK.
Coun Jack Scott, Sheffield Council cabinet member for environment, said: “I am excited to see the new charging stations at the hotel.
“They are leading by example in support of Sheffield’s quest for a green future.”
Paul Brown, director of Saxon Hotels, said: “We are very proud to be the first hotel in the city to support this initiative.
“Best Western is leading the way on green tourism and working hard to support hotels around the country to offer this service to their guests.”
The number of electric vehicles in the United Kingdom is set to rise to two million before 2020.
