A FAMILY fun day and the annual Sylvia Pankhurst lecture are among events coming up at Wortley Hall.

The trade union-owned stately home, between Sheffield and Barnsley, is holding the South Yorkshire Festival from noon until 5pm on Saturday, July 2, with stalls, choirs, dancers, a static birds of prey display and other entertainers including band the Bluegrass Buddies

Admission is free but parking is £1 per vehicle.

The Sylvia Pankhurst Memorial Lecture, in memory of suffragette campaigners, is from 7pm on Friday, August 12, given by Dr Jo Stanley, an internationally-recognised expert on gender and the sea.
