The Blue Stoops pub in High Street is a Grade II listed building that dates back to the 1590s.

The building has been closed for two years but has now been bought by Sheffield’s True North Brew Co, the company behind the city’s Forum Cafe Bars.

Sheffield architectural practice Coda Studios has submitted a planning application to North East Derbyshire District Council.

“The application is for an extension to the existing building to form a new kitchen, staff room and office and to increase the customer floor area,” said Coda architect Peter Noble.

“The application also covers the conversion of an old barn building to the rear into a distillery.”

Mr Noble added they hoped the plans would be seen as a ‘positive use of this fascinating old building, retaining all its original character and features’.
