One of the oldest athletic clubs in the UK are moving back to Hillsborough Arena.

Hallamshire Harriers, who were founded in 1896, is transferring back to the location.

In 1956, the club was originally based at the then newly-opened running track at the arena but eventually moved some of their operations to Woodburn Road and Don Valley Stadium, but did still use Hillsborough for some activities.

It has now decided to make the arena its main base. Club chairman Mike Theobald said: “The club has a proud history and has consistently over nearly 120 years produced athletes of national, international and Olympic standard and I am sure this new association will drive the club forward to even greater achievements in the future”
