Hip-hop star Akala is coming to Sheffield – to deliver a politics lecture.
The 29-year-old, real name Kingslee Daley, is known for his socio-political lyrics and has been invited to speak at Sheffield Hallam University ahead of his gig at The Leadmill on Saturday.
His talk – on race, imperialism and class – has been organised by politics lecturer Dr Bob Jeffery, who said: “Akala believes in hip-hop as a force for education, raising awareness of political issues and encouraging social change.
“His talk will cover subjects our students are familiar with, but I’m sure his alternate take will be engaging to them.”
The talk is also open to the public. To book a place, visit goo.gl/JTfxhx
