Hilly challenge for cyclists

Have your say

Some of Sheffield’s toughest hill climbs will be covered in a new cycling event launched by a city firm.

JE James Cycles is to host Sportive, a 28-mile route from Ringinglow to the Peak District, to celebrate the Tour coming to Sheffield.

It will include 3,000ft of climbs and form part of a weekend CycleFest at The Norfolk Arms pub in Ringinglow on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18.

Adam Simmonite, of JE James Cycles, said: “We wanted to put on a sportive that was low on miles but big on challenge.

“There are some great views on the way and, with over 3,000 feet of climbing, riders will get a great sense of achievement.”
