I see that quite rightly Trevor Hicks and Margaret Aspinall have been honoured by the Queen. They thoroughly deserve it.
One thought hangs uneasily in my mind through. They should not have had to deserve it!
If South Yorkshire Police had had the guts to put their hands up 25 years ago and admit their mistake, how much anguish, hard work, and tenacity could have been avoided by Margaret and Trevor, not to mention the anguish and sorrow felt by other family members of the 96.
By trying to cover up their mistakes and not being honest, South Yorkshire Police behaved no better than the criminals they arrest every day.
Shame on them!
