Highlighting flood danger

THREE flood awareness days are being organised in Sheffield for householders to find out how to be better prepared for any future disaster.

Environmental organisation Groundwork Sheffield will be holding the events at Winn Gardens playing field, Middlewood, on Friday, June 3, at Kelham Island Museum, on Sunday, June 12 and at Hickmott Road Pocket Park, Sharrow Vale, on Saturday, June 25.

Events starts at 10am and the morning of each Flood Awareness Day will focus on understanding the risks and dangers of flooding, and how local residents can make themselves better prepared.

The afternoon of the sessions will focus on how conservation work has made the River Don less likely to flood. For further information, call Groundwork on 0114 263 6420.
