High value machinery was stolen during a raid at a Doncaster firm.

Thieves stole two Bobcat miniature diggers from Catlow Civil Engineering, Pastures Road, Mexborough, using a white van to transport the machinery.

The van is believed to have had a trailer attached to it.

A black car was also seen near to the site at the time of the raid, with both vehicles leaving the area heading towards High Melton.

South Yorkshire Police said thieves struck between 7.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday, July 20.

One of the diggers was later found in Chapel Lane, Thurnscoe.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police in Doncaster are appealing for witnesses after the reported theft of high-value machinery from a business in Mexborough, Doncaster.

"Persons unknown are reported to have forced entry to the site of Catlow Civil Engineering, in Pastures Road by breaking the gate locks."
