High cost of fashion work

Have your say

A TRENDY Sheffield clothes store which rakes in up to £126,000 a year in ‘uniform’ fees from staff has apologised and refunded a teenager who complained to Action Desk.

Corey Burnham, aged 16, won a job at the Hollister Co store in Meadowhall, but was told to spend £79 each season on clothes to fit the corporate look.

But she was left fuming when she only received two shifts, filling in for people who were off. The firm refunded her after our call.

Mum Alison Howard, of Nether Green, said: “They told Corey the store employed 400 people, if they all spend £79 on a uniform every season that’s £126,000 Hollister is raking in from staff every year.”

Hollister had no comment.
