DR EDWARD Madigan, the resident historian with the Commonwealth Graves Commission, will deliver the prestigious Basil Hicks Lecture at The University of Sheffield this year.

Dr Madigan’s talk is entitled ‘Our Glorious Dead: The Commonwealth War Graves Commission as guardian of First World War memory in Britain’.

It takes place this Wednesday evening at 6pm at the university’s St George’s Church Lecture Theatre, 17 Mappin Street, Sheffield, S1 4DT.

The event is free to attend but entry to the lecture is by ticket only.
