The Doncaster community was asked to nominate individuals who have shown commitment to local initiatives through charity work or good deeds.

John Whiting has been a volunteer at the Alzheimer’s Society for over six years, and was nominated for his on-going hard work and commitment by Dementia Café coordinator, Jane Owen.

John was presented with an engraved plaque, which will remain a permanent fixture at the Belle Vue development, that offers three and four bedroom homes, and one and two bedroom apartments.

John is fundamental in providing assistance across nine Memory Cafes and two Singing for Brain sessions, a service which brings people together through singing and other activities and his passion helps these group to thrive.

Jane Owen said: “I’m delighted that Barratt Homes has recognised all of the hard work, time and effort that John has dedicated to Alzheimer’s Society and I know that the whole group highly values his efforts. His support and time has helped so many people and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate his dedication to the local area.”

Leonna Hardcastle, sales manager for Belle Vue, said: “As a community focused housebuilder, we believe that it’s important to support our local areas and the people who live there. We wanted to acknowledge people we believe encompass the same five-star values in the communities in which we build, which is why we’re thrilled to highlight the fantastic work of John.”
