Hero bar staff gave emergency first-aid to a stabbing victim who staggered into a Sheffield pub crying for help.
The 20-year-old man had been stabbed in an altercation on Pomona Street, just off Ecclesall Road.
He managed to find his way to Champs Sports Bar & Grill where quick-thinking staff attended to the stab wound in his stomach.
Assistant manager Joe Robinson, 23, said the stab victim stumbled through the back of the pub.
Joe and bar team member Nathan Young, cleared the area near the kitchen to attend to the injured man.
Joe said: “This lad came in through the back shouting for help. He looked like he had a stab wound to his stomach.
“We got a cloth from the back and pressed on his wound.
“We tried to calm him down the best he could and tried to take care of him while the ambulance arrived.
“We asked all the customers to move round to one side of the pub while we looked after him until the ambulance got here.
“I think the incident happened around 200 yards from the pub. All the Sunday football had finished so it wasn’t overly busy at the time.
The man was taken to hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.
Champs owner Danny Grayson said: “I’m really proud of the way my staff helped this tragic lad who got stabbed.
“I’m over the moon with them and the way they tried to keep this lad calm until the ambulance got there.
“I’ve had this place about four years and it’s the best set of staff I’ve worked with.”
Officers yesterday sealed off a large stretch of Pomona Street following the incident, which happened around 7.20pm on Sunday.
One nearby worker said police started their investigation in the early hours of the morning carrying out enquires.
Officers investigating the attack searched the beer garden and the car park of Portergate office block.
