A REUNION of the Boys of ’66 saw footballing legends from the World Cup-winning England team sharing their memories with fans at a Sheffield hotel.
The event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park Hotel, Meadowhead, played host to the former Sheffield Wednesday manager Jack Charlton, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Sheffield-born goalkeeper Gordon Banks and Nobby Stiles. The quintet shared their tales with 240 people who had come to hear the players’ firsthand accounts of England’s World Cup win.
Steve Whittaker, hotel general manager, said: “It was a honour to welcome such figures.
“The evening was a huge success, listening to the stories of the people who played in that legendary game in 1966.”
John Stiles, former Leeds United player and son of Nobby, also performed a comedy set.
