A HUNGARIAN lorry driver got an unwanted shock when he woke up after taking a nap in his cab in one of Doncaster’s former pit villages.
The driver of the large articulated lorry found he had become stuck in mud on the grass verge next to Mount Pleasant Road, in Moorends.
A spokesman for the Doncaster Council neighbourhoods team, which intervened to help free him, said: “The lorry driver parked his lorry on the grass verge to catch up on sleep before making a return journey back to Hungary. But when he awoke he realised the grass verge had been too soft to support the weight of the lorry.”
He said the driver tried to get away, but ended up blocking half the road, before neighbourhood officers were alerted. They called a farmer to pull him out with a tractor.
