Here's how you can help fund a new chocolate cafe in Sheffield with campaign launched today

Young entrepreneur Max Scotford launched his bean-to-bar artisan chocolate business as a one-man band two years ago, and has since won two accolades for his Bullion brand.

Now the 25-year-old is looking to expand the business and he's launching a Kickstarter campaign to help raise the money to open a café in the brand new Cutlery Works Food Hall in the Kelham Island area of Sheffield.

Bullion is already moving its production facilities to the new building but it has the opportunity to open a new café alongside it.  Max now needs to raise £10,000 in 30 days to fund the campaign and make the cafe a reality.  'It's always been a dream of mine that people would be able to experience our chocolate in a cafe', said Max at the launch of his Kickstarter campaign last night. 'What would make this cafe different is that you will be able to get your coffees and then through the window see our bean to bar chocolate being produced right in front of you. 'Not a lot of people know about bean to bar so it would be great to show them how it is made from the beginning and let them become part of it  .'

'It's not easy, or cheap, to get something like this off the ground so I'm really hoping that people get behind us. If we manage to raise the money it would be truly amazing, to think that our supporters were responsible for us opening our first café would be incredible and truly humbling, to be honest.'

A launch event for the campaign was held on Thursday at the Virgin Lounge on Fargate.  Guests were able to taste some of the baked goods Max plans to sell, from brownies to cookies. Details of how those  who donate funds to the cause will be given '˜rewards', such as free coffees, boxed of baked goods or chocolate making classes, were also on show. Those with more cash to splash could also have their name engraved into the coffee shop counter.  

The plan is for Max to team up with Caravan Coffee Roasters of London if the project goes ahead.

Max added: 'I've got my fingers crossed that we can make the dream a reality and if we do, I will very much look forward to greeting people with a smile and some Bullion!'
