'Help us crack down on criminals'

POLICE are calling on the public of Harworth to give them a hand in targeting prolific and persistent offenders.

As part of Operation Wince, officers in North Notting-hamshire are cracking down on burglary, car crime, drug dealing and anti-social behaviour, with a particular focus on Harworth, Worksop and Retford.

They have already executed a number of search warrants resulting in the recovery of drugs and stolen property, and a number of people have been arrested. Further searches are planned.

During the operation there will be an increase in high visibility officers in ‘hot spot’ areas and off-road police motorbikes will be used to disrupt criminality.

Roads policing units will also be targeting motorists driving without tax and insurance as well as those who continue to drink and drive.

Det Chief Insp Simon Firth said: “Any information the public can provide will be invaluable and acted upon immediately. The aim of the operation is to improve the quality of life for all residents in these areas.

“The local community knows who the criminals are, which includes drug dealers, car thieves, and burglars. New and improved intelligence is the lifeblood of any operation and will greatly assist the police in locking up criminals and making these communities safer and stronger.”
