On Monday I took up the post of Editor of Sheffield Newspapers. As I pen this column I’m looking on with pride at the 80 packed pages produced by your Sheffield Star team –
It is my absolute intention to fully understand that which makes this city tick. In order to do so I need YOU to tell me just what you want from this multi-media publishing powerhouse.
Make no mistake about it, Sheffield has one of the best regional daily newspapers in the country; a website its peers look upon with envy and a team of people dedicated to providing the people of Sheffield with a media service this city deserves.
Allow me to run a few numbers by you: 613,000 visitors came to www.thestar.co.uk in September - 50 per cent more than 2012.
Last Monday alone, 52,000 people logged on to our recently relaunched website.
10,000 of you have downloaded our tablet ‘app’. That means up to 10,000 of you are reading the newspaper on an iPad or such device – getting your complete daily newspaper
delivered at the touch of a button.
Almost 30,000 people continue to buy the newspaper on a daily basis, be it for the bang-up-to-date news and sport, for the myriad special features, business, comment and analysis.
But what I now need to know is what YOU want from me? What YOU want from us? What YOU want from your Sheffield Star?
