Accommodation is being sought for up to 125 volunteers who are helping to clean up a derelict canal ahead of its restoration.

The Chesterfield Canal Trust is looking for people and organisations to come forward to house workers over the weekend of November 8 and 9.

The volunteers from the Waterway Recovery Group will be working in the Renishaw area to clean up the Chesterfield Canal.

Organisers are looking for basic accommodation such as scout huts and school halls for the volunteers.

Chesterfield Canal Trust chairman Robin Stonebridge, said “We often host work camps for up to 25 volunteers, but these numbers are on a different scale.”
