Hedgehogs at risk of bonfires

Have your say

SPARE a thought for hedgehogs when planning bonfires, households are urged.

Piles of logs are the perfect place for hedgehogs to nestle, and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society is asking the public to take care before lighting bonfires this year.

Residents should move piles of wood to another part of the garden on the day of a bonfire, or use a broom handle to push to one side the base of the pile then use a torch to look and listen for signs of hedgehogs.
