Healthcare company donates cash for new helipad in Sheffield

Employees from B. Braun Medical Ltd in Chapeltown chose to donate £1,000 following discussions in an employee forum.

Each year B. Braun Chief Executive and Chairman Hans Hux donate £1,000 for teams or departments to donate to a charity or good causes.

The Sheffield Hospitals Charity is trying to raise £2 million to fund a new helipad next to the Accident and Emergency Department at the Northern General Hospital to speed up the length of time it takes patients flown to the hospital to receive emergency treatment.

Air ambulances currently land away from the hospital, meaning patients need to be transferred to A&E in a land ambulance.

Mr Hux said: “The Helipad Appeal is a great cause and we hope this donation takes Sheffield Hospitals Charity that bit closer to meeting its target sooner.”

Sheffield Hospitals Charity director, David Reynolds, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone at B. Braun Medical Ltd for their commitment to ensuring that Sheffield and the surrounding area, has access to a world class helipad.”
