Young Owl to take on charity coastal trek

A YOUNG footballer will be turning his summer holiday into a charity challenge when he takes on a 90-mile coastal walk to raise cash for good causes.

Ben Nunnington, a player with Sheffield Wednesday Young Owls football team under 11s, will be completing a huge stretch of the Pembrokeshire coast, setting off later this month.

The Year 5 pupil at Nether Green Junior School will be joined by mum Emma and dad Ian, as well as younger brother Finn, seven, for the two-week trip.

Along the way he will be raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and his beloved football club.

Ben, from Crookesmoor, said: “The sponsor on our shirts is the Children’s Hospital so I thought it was a good idea to raise money for the hospital along with the football club.

“I would also like to help contribute towards my team’s much-needed new training kit. I got the idea for the walk from my dad, who walked the Pennine Way for charity – I wanted to do a long walk too!”

n Visit to sponsor Ben.
