Aspiring scientists learned about DNA, chromosomes and gene sequencing during a study day at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Students from universities and colleges across the city spent the day with experts during the event, run by the hospital’s genetics service.

Participants were also given the chance to use fluorescent microscopes.

The service carries out tests and provides analysis into disorders such as haemophilia and Down’s syndrome.
